today(well...yesterday now haha), was my grandma's 1st year memorial service thingy.

I know i've been babbling a lot about shopping but it's because I felt like trying to look nice for it!

But anyways, I woke up at 9 and got ready since we were leaving at 10. Kevin arrived and my grandpa, kevin, and I piled into my uncles car and headed off into the rain down to East LA where Konkou kyou (the church) and Evergreen cemetary are located. My mom couldn't come because she had to work :(

First we stopped at Haru florist to get flowers for the graves, and ran into one of my old classmates Cheryl (she was in Kevin's year...barely remembers either of us, even though she and her friend weren't very nice to me in elementary school -_-' )

We arrived at the church and my Auntie Yoko and Uncle Roland were already there, so we waited for my Uncle Jon and Auntie Yasuko to show up and shuffled inside the building. We had to wait for Tsuyuki Sensei to get ready (put on his white robes and everything) and...he took a really long time! haha. It turns out he had a call while he was getting dressed from one of his parishioners.

So, he started and did all the chants and everything, and halfway through the lights in the auditorium part (where we were) turned off, though at least not in the shrine area where he was doing stuff, so he didn't even notice till he turned around XD The rites ended with the usual offering of a sacred branch with the little paper strip tied to it.

He finished the memorial rites, and then gave a little sermon thing about how the mitama (erm... i guess you could call it the spiritual energy/soul) of the departed still can be seen influencing things in the material world. He talked about how the church parking lot had been inundated with homeless, but that now they're all gone, and how he'd helped them and that many of them now had jobs, with a funny anecdote about how one of them had given him a turkey for thanksgiving, and he'd told his parishioners about it, and how none of them had ever given him a turkey (with an added, don't send 100 turkeys flying at me for thanksgiving) thus showing that by treating everyone with respect no matter where they come from, and not taking people for granted will lead to positive things (...like the homeless  being grateful to him for his help and trying to show it). He also talked about how a bunch of his parishioners have been having things like surgeries and stuff, and how they were positive about it and he felt it is because of the influence of the mitama of ancestors and such.

After Sensei was finished, we went over to the cemetary and put flowers at my great grandparents on my grandma's side's grave, and the grave that she and my great grandma on my grandpa's side are buried.
Once we finished Auntie Yoko and Uncle Roland had to leave, and the rest of my family headed off to Oomasa in Little Tokyo to eat lunch. On the way my grandpa was pointing out places(like Hancock park where he used to fish as a kid) and giving little stories(like how my grandma had walked all the way from Jtown to the church when she got lost when she  was 7...which is pretty far away from each other btw) since he and my grandma had grown up there. We arrived at the restaurant and had to wait for Sensei to show up, so Kevin and I took a walk around and took a quick stop in Jungle Anime before heading back. The food was nummy as usual, and upon leaving Sensei came over to our table (the group was split into two tables) to say goodbye and said that I'd "caught a really handsome dude" lmao! ...and that at first he was trying to figure out when I'd gotten a brother, to which my aunt said that when you're together long enough people start looking like each other -.-'

after that my family split up and headed home, and...i guess i'll write up the rest of my weekend some other time :)

all in all, it was a pretty ok morning/afternoon, though i realised how much i still miss her...or at least before she started being really cruel towards the end...

so! roomie has a name! (she came back at almost midnight last night and we all talked a little)
her name is Huimin haha. She's a microbio/biochem major and a TA...which explains her longggg days i guess.
She seems nice enough so far :)

Today was mostly unproductive. I went to discussion, came back and did nothing until i had kitchen duty. Kitchen duty was...washing dishes as usual heh.
After that I ended up eating dinner with Joana! ...and then her acquaintance people came over (...she knows a zillion people here).
...after a bit, i left and came back up to my room to do hw and stuff

...and now. I smell pot. DAMMIT. Joana's acquaintance people (...who smoke it) ...moved like 2 doors down from me. Now we have guys in the hall. WHYYYYY *found toilet seat up* ...and the POTTTTT ugh. damned leaky windows -.-

i'm trying to figure out what i'm going to take next quarter. the choices are...sparse. either it's something i have no interest in, or the classes are open only to people in that major. ...and there really aren't anymore japanese classes offered that I haven't already taken/want to take.

I want to take the last japanese linguistics class, so so far that's the only class that I know will be in my schedule! ><
...but i dont have to worry about classes yet until registration which isn't for another couple of weeks.
first i should worry about midterms next week.

so, i didn't mention this before, but last weekend was what we call "bump week" in which people can change rooms depending on senority.
So my roommate Joana (the original one) and her friend Stephanie moved into a double together on the 6th floor
...which...she described as smelling like cigarette and rat, and creepy things growing on the floor LOL. I think they've cleaned it up now though. She said it's pretty nice.

Since she moved out, Rocio moved to the bottom bunk, and took Joana's wardrobe (since hers is in the hallway, and it's kind of a pain when people are walking by)
They both told me that the new roomie came by over the weekend to check out the room, but hadn't come back.
Joana said that she was kind of "lame"
...as in asking if she could pick her bed, and could she have mine (the single), which Joana told her nooo...you get the top bunk (because, you know..you're last haha)

but yeah, Rocio and I didn't see her Sunday so we didn't know whether she'd come back or not

she ended up moving in last night...at MIDNIGHT!!!!
so she basically just dragged all her stuff here, unpacked and went to sleep. She's lucky we were both still awake, a lot of times Rocio is asleep by then (and if it had been Joana, she'd definitely have been asleep by then XD)

The girl woke up earlier than I did, and by the time I got up at 8 everyone was already gone
...and I haven't seen her since ._.
It's almost like we don't have another roomie (...whose name I didn't catch because she mumbled it...i just know it's something Chinese)

so... i realised i'm an idiot -.-

anyways, today i went shopping for brown boots(i want them for that skirt i bought yesterday) with mabel who had to return a shirt anyways.
...we searched EVERYWHERE at Westside Pavilion mall and I couldn't find anything that I liked that either
a) fit my calves
b)were in my price range (...no more than around $50)
c) ...existed in my size -.-
we went to one store where i saw some that i thought would work. but they didn't have any in my size...in fact they didn't have many in Mabel's size either. LAME :(
It was ridiculous how many i tried on or...attempted to try on at least (since that one store was out of EVERYTHING -.-; ).
But at least, at the cathy jeans shoe store the store girl was really nice. She really tried to help, but alas, nothing worked ><'

in the end i still ended up buying this pair of black boots that i'd liked when we went to Payless last time, but they only had it in 9, not 8.5. They still didn't have it in my size, but they suddenly had an 8 and the 8 fit so I bought it and a pair of black flats since I dont own any. I also bought socks to go with the flats since...i dont own any -.-'
heehee i really like these. they feel at least kind of water resistant, and they're fuzzy and warm inside :3...and bummy enough i can wear them not just for special occasions :)
...yay. more black to add to my mostly black collection (rather small really) of non-clunker shoes XD

we went to H&M and I also bought a shirt (to hopefully go with the skirt, if not, i have something that works, but this looks nice with just jeans anyways)


we ended up getting smoothies at this place called tasties, and dinner at (for her) Panda Express and (for me) La Salsa. Omnom burrito :3

After that it was already dark so I headed back to my room and now I'm working on classical for tomorrow. whee =-=

After I get some brown boots to go with that skirt, I am done with shopping for a while (except for maybe some new jeans haha, mine are getting a little worn out. I'm tough on my clothes D; )

Thursday I bought a coat.

Friday, I spent the morning cleaning out these boots i found in the garage sometime last year. They'd never been worn (still had the price tag of $165 on them even!) but because of the heat of the garage the lining had corroded, so I scraped it all out. I think it'll be a while before it totally stops leaving black specks, but it's so much better than it was when I first unwittingly stuck my foot in XD

when Kevin came back we ended up going to Payless because he wanted to look for dress shoes since his are dying. He managed to find a pair, and i managed to find myself some more casual looking boots

afterwards, we headed to Kevin's house for a bit to relax before setting off to pick up Michael and head to Lyn's house to head for Lawry's which was the suprise place we picked for Michael's birthday!
...except, when we got to Michael's house and Kevin called him to come outside, he said he was at Kevin's house *headdesk*. So we told him to meet at Lyn's house, and we headed there ourselves, jumped in Lyn's car and off to Lawry's it was :D
Although we were running late, we still ended up there way before our 8:30 reservation time. So in the meantime we had some meatballs and sat around the lobby until they called us at 8:45.
We got seated, and suddenly this guy started sneezing like crazy. ...Lyn thinks it's because she probably had animal fur on her XD

Anyways, the meal was nummy! We had their special which was a set price for salad, 8oz steak dinner, and dessert!
Salad was ok, dinner was an 8oz prime rib with mashed potatoes, yorkshire pudding, and Kevin and I added on a side of creamed spinach. Dessert was either a trifle or an ice cream sundae. I had the sundae but couldn't finish it I was so full ><

By the time we were done with dinner it was past 11pm, so we went back to Lyn's house for a bit to say hi to her new kitty!
My friend Tina is moving to Australia for school, and had somewhat taken in a stray cat, so Lyn offered to take him and either keep him or find him a new home.

After that Lyn kicked us out and I went to Kevin's house for a bit before going home

Saturday was time for even more shopping!
Kevin needed sweatpants, and I was just looking to look so we ended up going to Ross! Sweatpants were way too expensive there, but I found a couple of cheap skirts :) I don't really have anything besides jeans to wear or some super formal-ish stuff, so I'm trying to expand my wardrobe past jeans and t-shirts and clunky shoes (...i think i'm like the last remaining tom-boy in the group or something)

I actually really like the flowery brown one. And that's pretty good considering I don't tend to like bright prints!
Anyways, after that we went to Yazmin for malaysian food. It was...ok. Kind of expensive, but still fairly nummy :)
After that we went to Target quickly to see if they had cheaper sweats, but they were pretty expensive there too so we just headed off to Lyn's house where we played Would You Rather, Disney Apples to Apples, and Disney Trivial Pursuit, (all of which I lost 8D) with Barb, Amy, and Joseph.

Sunday, Kevin and I got tea from TenRen and then went shoe shopping in a bazillion places in East LA (Sketchers Outlet, Payless, Target, and a couple random stores). I wanted to find brown boots to go with that brown skirt, and he wanted to find white slipon shoes but...we failed *sigh* Afterwards, we went to Walmart for one last try before giving up and going back to his house for a bit before I had to go home for dinner.
So, I went home and my family headed off to Daikokuya! Third time there and FINALLY they got to try it haha. omnom. Ramen was good as usual :3
And after that, now I'm back at school and hopefully ready to be productive with hw D;

this week has been busyyy
or...at least yesterday was >.>'
Had two essays, one for my Fiction and Plays of the Floating World class, and one for Intro to Japanese linguistics
and then an online response to readings for the FaP class (...and yes, fap is intentional, man... some of these stories are incredibly raunchy), and also of course my classical homework, all of them due today!
...which meant of course a very...VERY long night. Which, btw was VERY WINDY AT 5AM! ...it was coming through my slightly open window sounding like thunder D:

I ended up finishing and going to sleep when the sun came up! ...and then had to wake up just a couple hours later to get ready for class. I'm amazed I didn't fall asleep during any of my classes ._.'

After class I went with Mabel to Westwood Pavilion mall. Wandered around a bit, and at H&M found a nice coat for fairly cheap! *happy happy* I don't have any nice black coats so... whee :D

After wandering around a bit more, we left and I went back to co-op to pack up before my mom came to pick me up.
and now i'm at home relaxing. ...probably going to go to sleep soon considering how little sleep I got =-='

So, as I said in the last post, Kevin came over for the Utada concert, and ended up staying until Thursday with me :)
Wednesday was pretty boring, but quite wet. When i was walking back from class it was sprinkling, but i saw a flash of lightning, a few seconds later the boom of thunder...and then it started POURING. ...i got so wet and didn't have an umbrella on me. This girl felt sorry for me and let me huddle under her umbrella a bit until i had to turn down my street. I came back to the room and snuck kevin into the dining hall for lunch, and then went to kitchen duty. Afterwards we got dinner, and then just stayed in the room while i did hw and he watched stuff on his computer.

Thursday, I went to class (much pouring to be had there too). Chi, Mabel and I decided that if it wasn't raining too hard we'd do something after our last class, and luckily for us it wasn't pouring so I called Kevin to meet us at Ackerman turnaround. We got there and huddled up under the busstop shelter (it was still sprinkling after all) and waited for him...during which time a downpour of rain happened! ...poor boy was soaked by the time he met up with us, but the rain let up a bit after that. We ended up going to this place called Jose Berenstein's for some mexican food (...i was skeptical at the name of the restaurant, but the food wasn't too horrible). After that we wandered to a few stores before it started getting dark and rainy so Mabel and Chi left for their busses. We went to CVS so Kevin could go to the bathroom and I could get some girly products, and then decided to go to Best Buy because the rain was starting up again.
We hoofed it through Ralphs to Bestbuy to look around while we waited, and then since the rain seemed to have stopped for a bit went to Trader Joes...during which the rain started up again -_-' (so much for it looking clearer outside heh >.> )
Finally, we started back for Co-Op and stopped by Diddy Riese and got cookies since it was on the way anyways before sloshing through huge puddles and putting up with on and off again heavy rain until finally ending back at Co-Op. We changed into dry clothes and waited around until around 10 when the sky seemed to be clearing and the rain was no longer heavy (for an extended period of time...we got back around 7ish).
So we headed home, and of course the wind happened to be blowing the rain towards home -_-'
We ran into a super heavy pocket of rain when we hit downtown LA but finally made it back to MPK. Went to Goodshine kitchen for some grub and then bummed at Kevin's house until around 1 when he took me home.

Friday, Kevin and I did a few errands and I got a haircut! it's not much different, just a trim and some bangs.
i haven't gotten a haircut in a year! ...which is before i had piercings so my hairdresser was like @_@ so many!!!
my hair is much happier, no more dead ends :D (a whole year means it was getting pretty bad >.o )
After that Kevin and I bummed until dinnertime and picked up Tracy before meeting up with Deb, Steph, and William at Mandarin Deli! It's been so long since I've seen them so it was nice to talk and stuff :) After that everyone split up, and Kevin and I went back to his house and watched The Village before passing out for a while and then me going home.

Saturday, Kevin and I went to Chinatown so he could get a haircut, and get some cheapassed shirts XD
We went to his aunt's salon and got his haircut, and then wandered around. We ended up eating lunch at this place called Foo Chow.
...their claim to fame(as printed in huge letters on their wall)? Rush Hour was filmed there. ...That's about all they have going for it -.-
The food and service sucked, and that's saying a lot since I'm used of pretty blah service back in MPK >.>'
we got a fried tofu and veggie dish, and clams in red wine sauce. The eggrolls that came with it...came with hot mustard and KETCHUP!
ew. ...and the place comes standard with forks (i'm used of people having to ask for forks, not chopsticks). We asked for chopsticks and the waitress/hostess lady THREW them on the table at us and left ...wtfh. BADBADBAD.
So...yeah. not a good experience.
After lunch, we wandered around chinatown and kevin got some shirts and a leather bracelet for himself before we headed back home

We ended up going to Target where Kevin got me a new purse (for christmas, he said he'd get me one, but i hadn't found one i liked/he didn't have enough moolah)
After that we went to Petsmart to oogle at all the cute little furry things (chinchillas! rats! hamsters!...big fat huggable bulldog! <333)
For dinner we ended up going to Thai Paradise and ordered way too much food (hot and sour coconut soup, squid/shrimp curry, and pad thai) omnom tasty...but a bit of a splurge D; After that we just went to his house and food comaed/messed with his computer until it was time for me to go home.

Today, Kevin and I ate the leftover thai food, and then headed to Little Tokyo so he could look for the kamen rider  henshin belt he wants to get michael for his birthday...which failed because the store didn't have anymore. we also went looking for this little store we went to during the art walk we took in the summer where he found a really nice jacket he wanted...but they didn't have it anymore, so trip to little tokyo was pretty much a bomb =.=
We headed back to MPK and got some tea at M.J cafe which is located in Kiki's bakery, and then headed to Walmart where we stocked up on toiletries (since Kevin is going back to school tonight and needed some things). By then it was almost 5 so we headed back to my house and went with my family to Daikokuya for some ramen
...and were thwarted once again (i swear, the ramen gods dont want my family to try daikokuya! D: ). They were closed for maintenence.
Our theory is that they probably sustained water damage from all the rain we had all week (Cali isn't built for this much rain at once!...hell, CSULB closed for a couple days due to tornadoes! ...and it hailed here as well... definitely not your normal cali weather!)
So...we ended up going to Shinanos. The food was only ok :( Kevin got a soba set with chawanmushi, and it came out after ALL of us were done eating -.-' And it came out overcooked and without the chicken and gingko nuts that are like STAPLES of the dish. All in all, just ok food, and just ok service :(

and now I'm back at school trying to finish up stuff since I have two essays due this week as well as classical hw! *stress*

So, Tuesday night was the Utada concert!
I went to class, got drenched, and hurried back to wait for Kevin to arrive. He came super late because his mom made him take his sister to PCC to do stuff >.>' He finally arrived, and we were off to Blue Marlin for dinner! Yummy uni omurice :3
After that, we headed off to the House of Blues on Sunset. Lots of traffic so it took us almost twice as long to get there as it should have. We got there maybe at 6:30-ish, parked at a nearby parking lot and waited at Carnies for Molly before walking to the venue and waiting in the super long line.
Doors were supposed to open at 7:30 but they didn't open until past 8 >.>'
we went in and tried to get spots on the 2nd floor, but it was too full, and they'd blocked off half of it for "VIP" >.>'
So we went back downstairs and found a fairly good spot off to the side by the closed bar :)
Waited around, during which time I ran into my classmate Jeff :D
I also saw a couple other people that I knew, but didn't end up saying hi. And, I saw one of my classmates that wasn't in class (now i know why, she must have been waiting in line -__-' )

While we waited, DJ Mike Rizzo was...dj-ing. Apparently he did a couple of Utada's remixes, and has done stuff for lots of other famous artists
...bet that as it may, I didn't like him very much. He didn't do much to get the crowd pumped up, and I just didn't find his stuff good at all D:

and then. this Japanese guy came up in front of me -_-' his girlfriend or whoever was at the bottom of the steps (i was at the top, and there was one step in between) and called him over. he went over to stand next to her, which was fine, I could see he wasn't near me, all was good.
...but then he had to go and move to the step right in front of where i was. like...he was so close we were touching -____-'
WTF GIVE ME MY PERSONAL SPACE ASSHAT!! D;
but...he's from asia ...aka no sense of personal space >.>'  ...nevertheless i was subtly trying to get him to go away. Like...since i was spending most of my time talking to Molly and Kevin who were behind/to the side of me anyways. ELBOW IN BACK!!...not hard, just enough to be like hey. you're right up against me, gtfo.
luckily, his girlfriend found a better spot on the steps i was on, but over to the left more so thank goodness he was goneeeeee, I couldn't see over him, and it was really uncomfortable having him OMG right there ><'

The show (which I figured would start at 8:30 or so if the doors opened at 7:30) didn't end up starting until like 10 -___-'
but finally Utada came out in this pink leopard print dress and the crowd cheered! :D
it turns out it was her 27th birthday! So, people started singing happy birthday when she came out :)

though I expected her to only sing her english stuff, suprisingly she sang a lot of japanese ones too. The fans were definitely glad

We finally found one and then walked back to Co-Op where...my roomies were already asleep (we got back around midnight)
I caught up on some reading for class and then we went to sleep :)

It's a holiday, so there was no school today. It was also POURING earlier >.o'
I ended up waking up at like 9am =-='
and my roommate Rocio either came back after 2am and left before 9am, or didn't come back until 9:30am *shrug*
I went downstairs to see if i could do my kitchen shift today so that i wouldn't have to do it wednesday while kevin is here, but the office was closed. so much for that.
so i went back to the room for a while and worked on some hw and then got brunch around 10:30. ...it was basically breakfast foods with ...pizza (which i didn't touch) so...bleh.

came back up and didn't do much else except bum online and work on hw.

Joanna came back around 7 or so, and a bit after I went to get dinner. Dinner was better if still not great haha

came back and talked with Joanna, Rocio, and Rocio's friend Renato for a while about movies and stuff.
And then Renato noticed something about  Rocio's Korean textbook. The writer's last name is supposed to be "Park" (Pak...whatever)
But it was written as "Bag" and he was like ....i've never seen it romanized like this before wtf XDD
haha...yes, quite an odd romanization indeed.
after that, they left to study

and i'm working on classical again.
i'm hoping to finish a little more than i'm supposed to have done for tomorrow, so that I have less to do on Wed while Kevin is here (since i already have a kitchen shift till 6pm >.o )

Anyways, tomorrow is the Utada concert at HoB! :D
Kevin is going to pick me up after class and we'll grab something to eat before heading over there to meet up with Molly.
It should be fun! :D

so, the weekend was fairly tame.
Thursday after class I went with Chi, Mabel and Mabel's ex-roomie Aki to Westwood. We went to bobaloca for drinks first then walked over to DSW shoes...just to find out that they were closed :(
so we headed off to Kaitlyns, it's this expensive-ish boutique where Mabel had bought clothes like last school year, and then returned them (only to get store credit). Chi and I have been with her like 3 times now as she tries to get rid of the credit, but she keeps taking stuff back -_-'
Finally this time though I think is the end. She found a jacket so YAY D;
Afterwards, we went to Victoria Secret and wandered around. They have a sale but...I couldn't find anything pretty in my size :'(
(...which I find hard even when there ISN'T a sale -_-' ) once we finished, Mabel went home and the rest of us went to Ralphs. I didn't find anything worth getting, so after everyone was done we all went home.

After my mom picked me up I went to Kevin's house and had dinner (since i decided to skip out on the crappy dinner at school) omnom nummy foods *g* . We ended up just bumming around for the night and watching TV

Friday,I went to the bank, and then Kevin and I went to Tracy's house and had some nummy chow mein and talked. After we left, we ended up going to Mandarin Deli for dinner. I DIDN'T get the chow ma noodles this time! (haha, the lady came over and was like "chow ma mien?" ...not this time XD) After dinner, we went to Fosselmans for ice cream. Kevin got a scoop of horchata and I got a milkshake of eggnog and rum raisin ice cream (omnom) after that, we ended up going to Lyn's house for a while and playing Balderdash i think? with Lyn and Barb.

Saturday, we went to Bin Bin for some konjac tea and then came back and watched Fracture on dvd. I saw it in theaters, and remembered it being good but didn't really remember the story haha. It's still good. Anthony Hopkins is a good psychopath XD
After the movie, we were supposed to go with Michael to dinner, but he cancelled -_-'
So, we went ourselves to Liang's kitchen. They have really good stewed bittermelon *g* (the only reason i really wanted to go there haha).
The food we got was ...ok haha.

On the way out we saw this place called Strawberry Cones Pizza. I saw the sign and thought they'd have ice cream or something, but no -.-' it's  some japanese place that serves only pizza and pasta, i want to try one day though! After dinner we went over to Lyn's house and watched Lyn, Barb, Joseph, and Amy play Rockband... or...well...we went to the kitchen to get away from the bad singing haha.
After they were done with rockband we played this game that's basically scrabble, but you can stack letters on one another to make new words! it was fun :3

Today, I just went to Kevin's house and we watched Watership Down since he seems to have gotten a touch of food poisoning himself >.o'
After the movie was over, we talked for a while and then it was time for me to go home for dinner...we had pizza from Alondra's Wings. It was only ok pizza, not worth the $20 a pie >.>'

And now I'm back at school! Since it's supposed to pour tomorrow, as opposed to much lighter rain today, my mom decided to just take me back today. ...at least it gives me time to work on HW now, but I'd still rather be home, no one is even here!  =-='

So...today was busyyy even though I only have one 50 minute class =-='
Went to Jbuddhism discussion, and then bookstore where amazingly the buddhism book came in (yay)
came back for lunch and then kitchen duty.
...where i...mopped. holy crap. such a pain in the ass. i wrangled the mop and bucket across quite a distance to the water hose, filled up and went to start mopping the floor...when i put the mop in i realised it was filthy. it immediately turned the water opaque and grey...whoever used it last didn't clean it!! so... i had to wrangle the damned stuff (now heavy with water) back and wash the mop and yadda yadda before being able to mop the floor =-='
after mopping i did dishes, and then got asked to bake pies.
which...fried my little plastic apron right off hah =-='
halfway through, i had to get more pies out of the freezer. i walked in and because my shoes were wet they stuck to the floor! eep and the door closed which freaked me out (short sleeves + freezer + cold box of pies equals COLDDD BRRRR)
after kitchen duty i ate, and then had to clean the bathrooms (yay...more mopping =-=; )

and after that i hunkered down to do classical hw and a mini essay for linguistics.
and then the power went out. -_-' I figured i should start my essay and type it up before my laptop's battery went out, and then went back to working on classical by the light of my roomie's pineapple scented candle.
Of course, my luck being what it is, as soon as I finished everything, the power came back on -_____________-'''

anyways, there are two reasons for why the power went off. One: it's windy, maybe a powerline died, since the whole block seemed to have no power (but you can see the dorms from here, and the warm glow of their electricity was taunting me -_-' )
Two: earlier, i heard a thud but didn't think anything of it. Apparently there was a gasline explosion underground nearby. The thud being a manhole cover that flew up. My roomie's car was in an area blocked off by police and stuff, maybe they turned off the electricity until that was fixed? *shrug* whatever. it's back now (yay)

anyways, the forgotten thing that i forgot to mention was my adventure last Tuesday for fakeplasticblah ! She'd been sick and asked on LJ for water and food, so... since i didn't actually have much hw yet, said sure i'd be willing to go down and buy her some! So i walked over to the store in the dorm area and got her water and soup, and then tried to get to her dorm. ...they're doing construction so it took forever because i kept hitting dead ends! and...i'd never even SEEN her dorm building before but i found it! and managed to get in and deliver :D
...and then decided i'd try getting out by stairs after accidentally exiting the elevator too soon.
oi. that was not fun. her building is a MAZE!! omg kept hitting dead ends and stuff, but i finally got out and back home -_-'

anyways, long day of classes tomorrow! (but now i get to wake up a little earlier since i dont have to worry about printing stuff anymore woot woot)

I ended up not taking the Modern Japanese Lit class and I dropped the Korean Cinema class, so now I only have class Tues, Wed, and Thurs! :D
...but then again they're back to back.

also, there's a conflict between the finals for the buddhism class and ling class. =-='

so... i had to go talk to the Bodiford (because I wasn't enrolled in the class yet and didn't want to drop Cinema until i was sure that the conflict would be fixed). Well...he basically said, that the other prof has an unstandard time, so go talk to him, and if that doesn't work, write Bodiford a letter telling him who i talked to and when and he'd give it to the dean and they'd fix things (=-=''' )
well... i talked to Iwasaki and he said he'd figure out something, so I asked Bodiford for a PTE number (by that time, the class was waitlisted) and dropped kcinema and signed up for jbuddhism.

so now, i'm just waiting for Iwasaki to finalise what he's doing with finals, he has other conflicts so he's thinking of just changing the day altogether.

Thursday, after class I went with Chi to Enzo's. Their ravioli...sucked :(
after i ate, i came back to my room...but i guess i pushed myself too fast? and ended up getting myself sick and horking them up :'(
i felt better after that though, and bummed around until my mom picked me up. she dropped me off at kevin's house, and since i was hungry (seeing as how dinner had gotten flushed away...) we went to Good Shine kitchen and i had some oyster rice soup, before going back to his house and just bumming around.

Friday,I woke up and did some classical hw, and then the rest of the day was pretty much the same, getting some tea and bumming :D
We ended up going to Mandarin Noodle House for dinner...and I think I got food poisoning :(
That night I had to get up every hour to relieve my bowels T_T

Saturday, I worked on classical some more, and then Kevin and I went to Har Lam Kee for lunch, and I got rice porridge (since i didn't think i should eat anything heavy), and ended up going to see Avatar in 3D. It was pretty good...but I had a bout during the movie and ended up holding it in for the whole movie before making kevin rush me to my mom's house so i could relieve myself =-=' Because of the 3D glasses (we think) Kevin ended up getting a migraine, so since we both weren't feeling well, we ended up not going to Lyn's house like planned and just went to Kevin's house and ended up napping haha =-='

Sunday, I finished classical stuff and then Kevin picked me up, we got some tea and bummed at his house, then I went home for dinner. Had tuna helper...which didn't really make me feel very good >.>' After that I went back to Kevin's house and we picked up Barb and went to Lyn's house for a bit, which didn't go so well it seemed =-='

Monday, I had to post a response for the Floating worlds class, and then went to Kevin's house which ended up being more bumming since Kevin hadn't gotten much sleep(and i worked on an assignment for iwasaki that he ADDED AT THE LAST MINUTE GRR), and then dinner at Kevin's house. His mom made this fried tofu and tomato with meat dish that is always nummy :3 and she made chilean sea bass. It was tasty but...my stomach + fish = nausea ...so...i couldn't eat very much :( (stupid food poisoning, it'd been FIVE DAYS =-=' functional food poisoning, but still :'[ )
after dinner we picked up barb and went to lyn's for a little bit so kevin could get some stuff off his chest.
We left around 9 because my mom was going to pick me up soon. Got some tea and went back to his house to wait. My mom ended up not coming till almost 11:30 =_='

by the time i got back, my roomie's were already asleep, so i just dumped my stuff, printed out stuff i needed for class, got ready for bed and went to sleep.

done done DONE!
...and i probably won't even take either of the classes I went to today hah.

Woke up at 6:30 to get ready and go to the 8am Readings in Modern Japanese literature class(that i'm not enrolled in). I was thinking of taking it...but now that I think that I can get away with only having class 3 days a week instead of 4, (and not have such an early class) I probably won't take it. It doesn't seem too bad. There's only about 100 pages or so altogether of text to read (in japanese) ...which seems better than the 10+ pages per day for the advanced readings class I dropped last quarter heh. Lippit is nice, but jeez does he like his early classes =-='

After that class was over at 9:15 (and I got grilled, because he wanted me to read/translate a sentence and I couldn't read all the characters...) I went to the library to bum until 11 when my 2nd class (that i'm actually enrolled in) started. It's a Korean cinema class, it seems interesting and not too horribly difficult, but I still don't think i'm going to take it (for reasons stated above). We actually ended up watching the first movie of the class Madam Freedom (Chayu puin). It was an interesting movie, but so odd with all of the extramarital relationships going on >.o'
Mabel and I had sat in the back, and it's not an auditorium class so we spent the class weaving back and forth in our seats trying to read the subtitles ><'

After class ended at 1:15 I had to rush back because I have kitchen duty at 2. Luckily, i got back early enough to get lunch (...not that it was very good...) and to pay rent. Speaking of rent they STILL haven't refunded our fin aid yet, i can't buy books until i get it! (my rent came from christmas money). grrr
Anyways, went to kitchen duty where there was seriously NO ONE -_-' It was so dead and...I ended up washing dishes by myself for the shift.

After shift was over i wanted to go back up to my room and change before eating, and ran into the new roomie! ...which is sad because Joanna's friend was supposed to move in...and left all her stuff here, but didn't come early enough, so I was a bit suprised by the new random person.
She seems nice enough (I forgot her name already D; ). She's from Mexico and she's a Korean major! We went to dinner and talked a bit, but she's been in and out of the room since, and Jo left for a while so she still hasn't met her yet.

Anyways, tomorrow I have 4 new classes to go to, and if all goes well I'll take those four, and only have 3 days of class! woot woot :D
I also changed my work schedule from Mon at 2-6pm to Wed from 4-8 (even though I want 2-6) so that I can skip coming on Mondays at all (if things go as planned). I'm also going to keep checking and seeing if a 2-6 Wed spot opens up *crosses fingers* :D

and now... I should be working on responses for that Korean class (...even though i'm PROBABLY not going to take it, it's better to do it than end up taking the class and lose points heh)

i've been meaning to post, but just haven't had a chance!

anyways, the past couple of weeks have been busy with all the trying to hang out as much as possible and holidays and such.

been watching a lot of movies with Kevin (hey, it's something fairly cheap to do haha).

last tuesday we went to tracy's house to play Band Hero, but actually spent most of the time riding along with tracy and her mom to do errands (her mom got into a car accident, and is ok, but she had to visit a bunch of places and fill out stuff and such)

we've also gone to lyn's house a fair number of times to see how she's been doing since she's been sick with...something or other >.o'

on Wed the 23rd we had a Christmas gathering at the Cheesecake factory with Tracy, Kevin S, Jonathan, Tina, Jacky, Kevin, Lyn, Linda, Jon, Barb, and Dennis. Food was nummy, but the bill was evil. They charged tax on the gratuity...which made it so it took us a while to figure out why the hell we all seemed to have put in enough money, but were coming up short. grr.
afterwards, Linda, Jon, Tina, and Tracy went home, and the rest of us went to Lyn's house and played the Disney version of Apples to Apples before heading home

On Christmas, Kevin came with my family to Mccormick and Schmicks for dinner (...at 3pm >.>')
The food was ok, but the service was kind of slow, I don't think we'll be going back again =-='
Afterwards, we had to go with his family to New Capital for dinner (luckily the food at my "dinner" was light, and there was a long wait for his "dinner" ). The food was nummy, but I didn't eat so much, being full and all. Kevin ate too much though, and later that night ended up getting sick (to the point of hurling) :(

This Wednesday, Kevin, Tracy, Jonathan, Jacky, Linda, and Kevin S met up with Stella and Rosie at Tea Station. When Kevin and I arrived, I looked up and happened to see susurin_tree ! :D I haven't seen her in...years! We talked for a little bit before she left, and I went back to the table. Soon after Stella, Rosie and eventually Jacky showed up and we all caught up for a bit before Stella and Rosie had to leave.
After paying, everyone headed to Tracy's house and talking until it was dinner time. Tracy stayed home and Linda went home, but the rest of us headed to Mandarin Deli for some nummy foods :3~
After that, everyone disbanded and Kevin and I crashed Lyn's house for a bit.

New Years Eve we had planned to watch Avatar with Michael and Lyn, but plans fell through and we ended up just going to a Korean restaurant with Michael and then bumming at his house. We watched the last third of Kouhaku utagassen which ended at 11:45 and then flipped through channels until it was almost midnight, at which time we turned to watch the ball fall in Times Square. After midnight Kevin and I hung around for another half an hour or so before leaving.

New years day, Kevin came with my family to Todai for a nummy seafood buffet dinner. After dinner, we headed to Tokyo Lobby to pick up my mom food (since she had to work both today and Christmas :'[ ) We bummed at my house for a bit until my mom came, and then went to McDonalds for coffee before heading back to Kevin's house to bum some more. Sadly, coffee is apparently a gallbladder trigger for him and he ended up having an attack :(
so...i'm  home earlier than normal and typing this up! heh >.>'

i think i have a slight cold =-='
but i feel better than i did yesterday, so yay!

anyways, since it's breaktime, things have been pretty busy! :)

Thursday, I ended up going with KevinS and Jonathan to Santa Anita mall.
We mostly spent time in the food court because KevinS hadn't eaten and Jonathan and I were thirsty. Apparently Jonathan wanted to go to the mall because he wanted to get a telescopic fork for a white elephant gag gift at Borders...which is where we spent the rest of our time.
After we wandered around Borders, we went to Zankou chicken for dinner and brought it to KevinS's house to eat, and ended up watching stupid youtube videos and talking before it was getting late and we went home.

Friday, I had to go make a doctor's appt and then Kevin and I were supposed to meet up with Tracy, KevinS, and Linda at cha for tea. Tracy had something unexpected come up, so she couldn't meet us...and KevinS and Linda decided to ditch us so, we ate by ourselves. Afterwards, we went to Montebello mall to wander around looking for our christmas gifts to each other, but failed *sigh*
For dinner, we did end up meeting up with Tracy, KevinS, Linda, John, and Jonathan at Souplantation for some nummy foods. After that, Tracy, Linda and John went home, and I guess KevinS and Jonathan went to KevinS's house. Kevin and I ended up just going to his house and played some FFIX before going home.

Saturday, I woke up with a slightly sore throat. Kevin and I ended up going to Shau May for lunch, and then headed to Glendale Galleria mall to try our hand at shopping again. I had wanted a coat, and found one that actually fit well...but it was too expensive :'(
So, Kevin ended up getting me a stuffed bunny from Build a Bear. It's cute :D (and now i finally have a plush of all the animal's i've owned haha).
After wandering the store, we met up with Michael at what used to be Noodle Young for dinner. This new place (Chuan Yu noodle town i think it's called?) is pretty nummy too! Afterwards, Michael left us to go watch Avatar, and we headed off to play some Rockband with Lyn and Barb.
They...have Breaking Benjamin songs now! *is happy* :DDD
We only stayed a couple of hours because Lyn wasn't feeling well, so we took Barb home and since Kevin hadn't been able to save his game (he forgot to create a virtual ps memory card on his ps3) he tried out FFVI for a bit :D

Sunday, we went off in search of Kevin's gift. He wanted running shoes, and knew there was a pair he liked at Big 5 so...that's what i got him haha. After that, we got some Jamba Juice, and ended up going to Blockbuster to rent Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and ended up watching that after eating our leftover noodles from the night before and some of Kevin's mom's nummy foods :3.

so Monday, my mom had the day off (she had to work Sunday =/ ) So she took me shoe shopping.
I...got the same shoes as I had before (sketchers workboot looking things) they're clunky, but they hold up well! If i didn't have to walk so much to and from class every day, i'd probably get something a little prettier, but comfort and durability over style yo!

I can use some christmas money or something to get another, prettier pair (and maybe some sandals)
we'll see ._.

anyways, i had dinner, and then KevinS picked me up and we went to Shau May so he could get some dinner (and i got some bitter melon since it looked so nummy :3 )
Afterwards, we met up with Jonathan at QQ for froyo. I didn't get any because i had an avocado smoothie from shau may. We ended up talking for a long while before Jonathan had to head home, and KevinS took me home.

Today after dinner KevinS picked Linda, her little bro John, and I up and we went to QQ so he could get yogurt before heading to his house. We waited for Jonathan to arrive and ended up watching UP, and getting some latenight Del Taco to nom. Talked to KevinS' mom for a bit, and then Jonathan took us all back home.

so. after my last post i went out with my roommates to this brazilian food place called Bossa Nova. Food was NUMMY! I had this pink sauce linguine with shrimp, scallops, salmon, and some sort of white fish in it. it was...OMNOM :3 ...too bad i didn't get a picture before i tore into it, but i hadn't eaten all day so...yeah ><

So i went and only had to fill out the LoA form. Which took all of like 2 minutes -____-' ugh.
and after that we headed back to MPK, and got some pad thai from JJ donuts (their pad thai is nummy *-* ). Once he finished eating, we went to go pick up Jonathan from the train station and headed to Volcano tea where we waited for Tracy and Kevin to arrive.

We bummed there for a while before everyone had to head off for home/wherever. Kevin and i bummed at his house for a bit and then headed to Mandarin deli to get some nummy foods, before going back to his house and watching some more episodes of Dae Jang Geum :D

Today, Kevin and I went to Ralphs with his little brother Kenneth so he could get marshmallows for his cooking class, and bumming at Kevin's house till it was 4 and we headed off to meet my family at Lee's Tofu for some nummy korean tofu soup! omnom. sadly my mom had to work though, and it sounds like she'll have to work christmas as well DD:
after dinner, Kevin headed back to school to start gearing up for finals this week, and i'm just at home trying to occupy my time.
it's so weird not having to head back to school on Sunday nights ._.'

Finals are officially over till next year =___= *dies*

So.. i came back Sunday, had kitchen duty monday where all i did was wash dishes for 4 hours (freezing as the sink is directly in line with the OPEN DOOR...not good when it's raining and freezing

after i got back, ate, and took a shower i then started studying for classical japanese.
studied some more on tuesday

Woke up early Wednesday to stare at poems some more, then took the final at 3. it had 10 poems instead of 4 like the midterm, because he didn't want us leaving within an hour. ...took me 2 hours haha

Came back and ate, then started studying for Jreligion and printing out some stuff for Jpoetry/phil.

Went to sleep, woke up early and stared at notes some more before heading off to Jpoetry final at 11:30. ugh.
horrible final (just like the midterm haha. 3 hours of straight writing for 3 essays whee.)
this one girl got kicked out! lulz.
before class she was telling us how she'd heard that he's doubled paper grades and canceled the final before.
...so she decided to ask him. THIRTY MINUTES AFTER THE FINAL STARTED! they went outside, and when they came back in he was like:
Ridiculously stupid question. There's no negotiating, there's the midterm, paper and final GROAR
If you dont want to take it then leave, I came in with a 102 fever today and you cant take a test?! GRRR

yeah. he was pretty pissed. haha he threw her prompt in the trash and left. And a few minutes later this guy came in late and he sat down for a bit waiting for Marra to come back, but someone said "i dunno if he's going to come back" so...since he didn't see anymore prompts, he resorted to grabbing Lauren's out of the trashcan hah!
Marra did come back though, and ended up giving the guy a new one.



After that horror, was my Jreligion final. That one only took a little over an hour for 4 essays, and now i'm FREEE.

Now i'm just waiting for my roommate Maureen to come back from her final so we can go eat (I haven't had anything to eat since dinner yesterday D: ).

She's leaving for good after this week, so yeah, farewell dinner ^^

so...i actually DIDN'T end up passing out at kevin's house haha
he picked me up after my mom dropped me off, and we went to Tea Station to get some tea to go.
Then I badgered him to go back to Lyn's house (where he'd just come from), which he did quite unhappily and I got my laptop back from Barb. Yay Dennis managed to fix it...but he wiped all my files, so luckily I had them backed up on lyn's hd.
we pretty much just stopped by for that and left. went back to kevin's house and spent the rest of the night watching random youtube stuff :)

Saturday, Kevin and I mostly bummed at his house until it was time for dinner. We went to Sam Woo, and then headed off to pick up Barb and go to Lyn's house. Played some Partini (or well...we played without the timer, just for fun haha), and ended up watching some more youtube videos (while i moved stuff back onto my comp from lyn's hd). afterwards, we left and got some slurpees before going back to kevin's house and talked and ended up falling asleep until i woke up and realised it was late and i should go home haha --'

today, we went to JJ's Donuts for PAD THAI 8D...their pad thai is actually pretty good too ._.' i wanna go back and try their soup :D
after that we went to Volcano tea to get some milk tea (their boba is pink now ._. ) and went back to his house and ate and bummed until i had to go home at 5. I had dinner, and came back to school where i had to clean the bathrooms =-='

...and now i should be studying for classical...but i dont think that's going to happen till tomorrow. i feel a headache starting ><'

such a busy week =-=' (and all for one teacher too =-=; )...on the upside it means that i actually did stuff BEFORE the day they were due (...that, never happens. ever. )

I finished my classical hw for Marra's classical class on Monday (it was due wed)

Tuesday I stayed up till 3:30 finishing my powerpoint presentation (due on friday)

Wednesday, I promised myself that i would finish at least 5 pages of my 10 page paper on The Boom's Shima uta song, also due on Friday ...but I only managed to finish 3.5 before i went to sleep.

Which meant Thursday I spent forever finishing the damned paper (and tweaking my slides). Ended up staying up till 5:30-ish finishing up and having Adrienne help me proofread 8D (thanks!)...and then right when i was almost asleep, my roommate's alarm went off beause she has to wake up at 5:50 to get down to work kitchen duty at 6am -.-;
but i managed to just roll over and get to sleep finally haha

Woke up at 8:45 this morning and dragged myself to classical. ...and dreading that we'd have ANOTHER QUIZ (we had another pop one on Wednesday...that i didn't do so well on because i was working on stuff for Marra's poetry class instead of the classical class =-=; )

I kept nodding off in class haha, but managed to get through it ok. Apparently there are going to be TEN poems for our 3 hour final (instead of the 4 that we had for our...3 hour midterm -.-; ) apparently because we have 3 hours, we should be made to utilise the whole time D8
so much for relaxing until Tuesday to start cramming poems *sigh*

After class, Chi and I wandered around school for a bit until it was nearing 2 and i had to get to class while she went to her lab final. Somewhere in there I managed to give myself two different papercuts and on the way to class i got hit in the shoulder with the heavy door leading into Royce, thus spilling the drink i had in my hand >.>'

Went to Poetry class and turned in my essay (...10 pages that I dont even know are what Marra wants! ...because he didn't give us any guidelines -.- )
I got called second to do my powerpoint presentation. I think it went well =) Marra seemed to like it =D
and he was like a little kid asking what "deigo" (the okinawan word for Indian coral flower) and "uuji" (okinawan for sugarcane" were lol!

with 8 people, and the fact that we only got through 5 people in the whole 3 hour period, i thought we'd get out SUPER late, but we managed to get through everyone while only going over 25 minutes (...how sad it is when the class gets out 20 minutes late all the time that 25 minutes is just an "only")

I came back and had dinner with Joanna and now...I'm waiting for my mom to pick me up so i can go home! :D
which basically means i'm going to end up going to Kevin's house and probably passing out for a while -______-;
